IntactMed is a hardware and software platform designed to secure connected medical devices in healthcare environments. It consists of purpose-built cellular data terminals running a hardened, custom operating system (OS) aimed at protecting medical kits used in hospitals, clinics, home care, and by medical device manufacturers. The platform takes a bottom-up, prevention-first approach to security. Rather than relying on vulnerability assessment or network access control, security is embedded directly into the OS of each device. This means each device is independently protected whether online or offline and whether on a network or off. The custom OS is Google-free firmware, designed to minimize the attack surface by eliminating unnecessary services, voice call functionality, and enforced firmware updates. It includes built-in antimalware and AI-based threat detection as part of the operating system itself. IntactMed provides centralized visibility into connected care devices, monitoring device state, connectivity parameters, on-device content, risk indicators, and security posture alignment with use policies. Devices support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular connectivity via data-only SIM cards. The platform supports lock-task mode, full system permission grants for purpose-built apps, flexible APN mass-definition, and customized app enhancements to support various healthcare deployment models. It also supports rental and flexible enrollment models, allowing devices to be provisioned as integral kit components or as temporary rental units. Device lifecycle is managed and coordinated with the customer, avoiding unexpected OS updates.
