NetStare is a managed security service that provides 24/7/365 monitoring and operation of network security infrastructure, combining SOC (Security Operation Center) and NOC (Network Operation Center) functions into a single service. The service monitors security gateway devices installed at customer sites or in a service provider data center, collecting and analyzing security alerts and logs to detect anomalies and respond to incidents. Security operators and analysts staff the monitoring center around the clock. Core service capabilities include: - 24/7/365 human-staffed security monitoring with setup achievable within approximately two weeks - Log collection, retention, and analysis from security gateway devices - Alert tuning based on ongoing log analysis to reduce false positives - Unlimited firewall policy changes (additions, modifications, deletions) on behalf of customers - Configuration file backup and retention (up to two previous generations) - Incident response and root cause investigation upon detection of security events - Vendor liaison for hardware faults, including coordination of equipment replacement - Up to four complimentary vulnerability assessments per year for servers and network devices - Web portal providing visibility into monitored assets, alert status, and response activity, including end-of-service (EOS) tracking for monitored devices - Reporting on log analysis results and security policy improvement recommendations The service is designed for organizations lacking in-house security expertise or staffing capacity, and is positioned as a cost-effective alternative to building and operating an internal SOC.
