Bitwise Platform is a security solution designed for FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) bitstream protection and validation. The platform provides capabilities to transform, harden, and validate FPGA bitstreams used in industrial and embedded systems. The platform supports multiple FPGA families including AMD Xilinx UltraScale, UltraScale+, and 7-Series devices, with planned future support for additional AMD Xilinx 6-Series, Intel Agilex 7, Stratix 10, Cyclone 10, and Microchip PolarFire and IGLOO devices. Transform capabilities include decrypting and re-encrypting bitstreams with new keys, converting between plaintext and AES-GCM encrypted bitstreams, verifying and re-signing RSA authenticated bitstreams, and performing microbitstream compression with optional encryption. Hardening features focus on security enhancements such as removing commands for hardening purposes, injecting salt-based NOPs to increase encryption complexity, shuffling commands to prevent encryption breaking, and injecting NOPs as additional protection measures. Security validation functions detect authentication methods, identify encryption schemes, check for Warm Boot Start register usage, determine key storage methods (BRAM or eFUSE), and provide register usage overviews. The platform includes Level of Assurance (LoA) assessment capabilities that evaluate compliance with specific threat descriptions, provide security scores, state compliance criteria, recommend steps to achieve compliance, and extract metadata information. The platform operates on Linux (Debian 11/12, Ubuntu 20.04+, RHEL 9/CentOS 9), Windows (10, 11), and MacOS (Catalina 10.15+) systems.
