S-Filer/Portal is a web-based secure file transfer solution that enables organizations to share confidential files with clients, vendors, and partners. The system uses industry standards including X.509 certificates, SSL encryption, and S/MIME for protecting files in transit and at rest. The solution operates on a community-based model where authorized users belong to communities that can exchange files according to defined policies. Administrators can configure multiple communities assigned to internal departments or project teams with partners. Communities are built from users within groups from any standard LDAP repository. The system supports file transfers through standard protocols including HTTPS, FTPS, SFTP, SSH, and SCP. Users can initiate transfers from a web portal or through email notification links. A resume/restart function allows interrupted transfers of large files to continue from the point of interruption. Security features include automatic encryption based on policies, public key cryptography using S/MIME, and detailed audit logs showing all activity at user, community, or enterprise levels. Authentication methods include username/password, Windows authentication through Active Directory, and web SSO. The portal is accessible from any modern browser on Windows or Apple platforms and supports mobile applications. Administrative functions are performed through an online management console.
