Advanced Archive Password Recovery (ARCHPR) is a Windows-based tool for recovering passwords from encrypted archive files. It supports a wide range of archive formats including ZIP/PKZip/WinZip, 7Zip, RAR/WinRAR, ARJ/WinARJ, and ACE/WinACE (1.x), as well as self-extracting archives. The tool employs multiple attack methods to recover or bypass archive passwords: - **Brute-force attack:** Attempts all possible password combinations, with low-level code optimizations to maximize attempts per second. - **Dictionary attack:** Uses a built-in or user-supplied dictionary to test common words and combinations in various cases and languages. - **Known-plaintext attack:** For ZIP (classic encryption) and ARJ archives, if an unencrypted copy of a file within the archive is available, the archive can often be unlocked in minutes regardless of password complexity. - **Guaranteed WinZip recovery:** Exploits an implementation flaw in WinZip 8.0 and earlier to guarantee decryption of archives containing 5 or more files within approximately one hour (classic encryption only, Pro Edition). - **"Password from keys" attack:** Available in the Professional Edition only. AES encryption support is included for the latest ZIP, 7Zip, and RAR formats, though guaranteed and known-plaintext recovery methods apply only to classic encryption.
