Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery (EDPR) is a distributed password recovery tool designed for forensic agencies, government organizations, data recovery services, and corporate users operating across networked environments. The tool supports password recovery for over 300 file and encryption formats, including all versions of Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, ZIP/7zip/RAR/RAR5, PDF, BitLocker, LUKS/LUKS2, PGP, TrueCrypt, VeraCrypt, FileVault 2, BestCrypt, and various password managers (1Password, LastPass, Dashlane, KeePass, Bitwarden, Dropbox Passwords, Enpass, Kaspersky, Keeper, Roboform, Sticky Password, Zoho Vault). EDPR supports hardware-accelerated recovery using NVIDIA GeForce, AMD GPUs, and Intel HD/UHD/Iris Graphics. It employs asynchronous heterogeneous GPU acceleration, allowing multiple video cards of different makes and models to work simultaneously, achieving speeds 50 to 250 times faster than CPU-only operation. The solution scales linearly up to 10,000 networked workstations over LAN or the Internet, with minimal bandwidth requirements and no scalability overhead. An intelligent load balancer optimizes task distribution across heterogeneous CPU/GPU combinations. Remote deployment and centralized console management are included. Cloud-based scaling is supported via Amazon EC2 and Microsoft Azure instances. Encrypted virtual machine images from VMware, Parallels, and VirtualBox can be attacked for password recovery. Attack methods include brute-force, dictionary attacks, and hybrid rule-based attacks.
