ElcomSoft Advanced PDF Password Recovery

Advanced PDF Password Recovery (APDFPR) is a Windows-based tool for recovering or removing passwords from PDF documents. It supports PDF files created with all versions of Adobe Acrobat and other PDF applications.

The tool handles two types of PDF protection:

• Restriction removal: Instantly unlocks documents that restrict printing, editing, or copying, without requiring the "open" password.
• Password recovery: Recovers "password to open" using configurable attack methods including brute-force, dictionary, and mask/pattern-based attacks.

Encryption support covers 40-bit RC4, 128-bit RC4, 128-bit AES, and 256-bit AES encryption schemes.

The Enterprise edition includes Thunder Tables® technology — a patented approach using pre-computed hash tables to recover 40-bit encryption keys in minutes rather than days. The Professional and Enterprise editions support GPU acceleration via NVIDIA cards and multi-core/multi-processor optimization, applicable to files using 256-bit AES encryption (Adobe Acrobat 9).

Additional capabilities in Professional and Enterprise editions include removing digital signatures, JavaScript code, and form fields from PDF documents.

The tool does not support PDF files protected via DRM technology or third-party security plug-ins such as FileOpen (FOPN_fLock).

Available in three editions: Standard (€49), Professional (€99), and Enterprise (€399). A trial version is available with limitations on page decryption, brute-force password length, and dictionary attack options.
