SecEdge MicroEdge Description
MicroEdge is a software agent-based edge security solution designed for IoT devices, anchored in hardware root-of-trust. It supports a range of semiconductor platforms and architectures, enabling IoT service providers to deploy a unified edge security solution regardless of the underlying semiconductor vendor. MicroEdge handles device security across its lifecycle, including secure provisioning at first boot, key storage, ownership transfer, secure tunnel management, and key rotation. It supports multiple root-of-trust options: - Secure enclosure in IC SE and TPM (NXP SE, fTPM) - Secure enclosure in SoC IC Arm-TEE (via SecEdge's EmSpark™) - No SE key rotation The agent establishes one or more IPsec encrypted tunnels to ensure secure communication with NetEdge™ (formerly CloudEdge™) instances, and connects to ControlEdge™ management services via an MQTT connectivity stack. MicroEdge is part of the broader SecEdge software portfolio, and is managed centrally through ControlEdge™ services. Semiconductor partnerships include Aspeed, NVIDIA, STMicroelectronics, NXP, and Microchip.
