The Phosphorus xIoT Global Device Network is a device profiling and coverage database supporting the Phosphorus CPS (Cyber-Physical System) Protection Platform. It encompasses over 1 million unique device models across more than 950 IoT, OT, IIoT, and IoMT device vendors. Device coverage is built on Phosphorus's patented "Genus-Species" approach, which classifies devices hierarchically to enable broad and extensible identification of cyber-physical systems. Coverage spans a wide range of enterprise IoT device types including IP cameras, IP phones, printers, routers, switches, UPS systems, video conferencing equipment, access control systems, NAS devices, PDUs, and more. Unlike legacy passive solutions that rely on SPAN port traffic analysis or network monitoring, the Phosphorus approach uses active discovery methods that do not depend on network tap infrastructure. This avoids limitations associated with passive approaches such as incomplete inventory, limited visibility, low identification speed, and network performance impact. New device coverage can be added within hours, regardless of vendor or device type, making the network extensible as new device categories emerge. The device network supports enterprise environments where network-connected cyber-physical systems are commonly deployed, including carpeted enterprise spaces with printers, cameras, door controllers, IP phones, and smart lighting.
