Sandboxie Plus is an open-source, sandbox-based isolation tool for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows NT-based operating systems. Originally developed by Ronen Tzur, the project was later acquired by Invincea, then Sophos, before being open-sourced and continued by developer David Xanatos. Since open-sourcing, Sandboxie is distributed in two builds: - Classic: Uses an MFC-based UI, retains the original interface - Plus: Incorporates new features with a Qt-based UI; all new development targets this branch Core use cases include: - Running untrusted or unknown programs in a controlled, isolated environment - Safe web browsing by isolating the browser from the host system - Testing software installations without permanent system changes The Plus build is the actively developed branch. Users of the Classic build can access some Plus features by manually editing the Sandboxie Ini configuration file. Full documentation is available through the project's Support Page Index.
