IllumaSHIELD is a multi-factor authentication capability for voice and contact center interactions. It verifies caller identity by combining voice biometrics with phone number intelligence and, when required, a one-time passcode (OTP). The system evaluates risk in real time during a call: it analyzes the caller's voice biometrics and cross-references phone number data through a feature called TrustedNumber, which adjusts verification confidence based on whether the voice and number match known, trusted patterns. If risk signals indicate a higher-risk interaction or policy requires additional confirmation, the system triggers a step-up OTP delivered by phone or email. This adaptive approach means low-risk calls proceed with minimal friction while higher-risk calls receive additional authentication steps, rather than applying the same static verification (such as security questions) to every caller. The stated goals are to reduce fraud, prevent impersonation, social engineering, and account takeover, while shortening call handling time and improving caller and agent experience in contact center environments.
