Tempest is a cybersecurity company founded in 2000 in Recife, Brazil, originally incubated at the Center for Advanced Studies and Systems (C.E.S.A.R.) within the Porto Digital technology hub. The company provides a range of cybersecurity services and solutions including consulting (such as penetration testing, threat modeling, and vulnerability scanning), managed security services (MSS), digital identity solutions (SaaS), and technology integration. Its offerings cover prevention, detection, and response across data, identities, networks, systems, and both physical and cloud infrastructure. Tempest operates from offices in Recife and São Paulo, Brazil, and maintains an international presence through a London office opened in 2013. The company serves clients across various industries, including financial services, retail, e-commerce, industrial, and healthcare sectors, in Brazil, Latin America, and Europe. Over its history, Tempest has made acquisitions, including EZ-Security in 2018, which expanded its technology integration capabilities, and previously El Pescador (later sold to KnowBe4) for phishing simulation and security awareness training. In 2020, Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace company, made an investment in Tempest, which opened opportunities in defense, aerospace, and critical infrastructure sectors.
