The platform operates through three core functions: - Discover: Automatically identifies every AI tool in use across an organization, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek, and Perplexity, even when accessed through personal accounts on managed browsers. - Detect: Inspects prompt content in real time for sensitive data patterns such as PII, credentials, source code, and regulated data (PHI, financial records), triggering user notifications, justification workflows, and alerts to Slack, email, webhooks, or SIEM systems. - Defend: Enforces per-tool policies that allow, warn, or block prompt submissions before data leaves the browser, with auto-generated incident records and a queryable, redacted audit trail. ShadowWatch targets regulated industries including healthcare (HIPAA), legal, and financial services, as well as any organization seeking to address compliance obligations under frameworks such as the EU AI Act, GDPR, CCPA, and SEC requirements. The platform positions itself as an alternative to traditional DLP, CASB, and DNS filtering tools, which it argues cannot inspect natural-language prompt content or detect AI usage on personal accounts.
