CyberSpara Description
CyberSpara is a cybersecurity education company founded in 2020 as a result of innovation backed by The State University of New York Research Foundation (SUNY RF). The company develops DigitalPASS, a simulation-based game learning platform designed to train individuals on cybersecurity awareness and threat recognition. The DigitalPASS platform uses gamification techniques to teach users how to identify and respond to security threats online. The platform features scenario-based learning where users experience real-time consequences based on their actions during gameplay. Each simulation is individualized, with game outcomes determined by the combination of all players' actions, making each experience unique. Users can assume different roles, including playing as a hacker to understand attacker perspectives and targets. The platform covers various cybersecurity topics including social engineering attacks, phishing attempts, personally identifiable information (PII) protection, and misinformation identification. Analytics are provided for each game session, allowing both individual players and organizations to review performance and learning outcomes. The technology was funded by The National Science Foundation (NSF) and other funding agencies. CyberSpara was founded by Dr. Kambiz Ghazinour, a SUNY Canton associate professor with expertise in security and privacy practices. The company won $100,000 as runner-up in the HUSTLE Defense Accelerator competition in 2022. The platform can be deployed in the cloud or on-site, targeting organizations and individuals seeking to improve their cybersecurity awareness through interactive training.
