Object First Ootbi

Object First provides purpose-built, on-premises object storage appliances designed specifically for Veeam backup and recovery workloads. The Ootbi (Out-of-the-Box Immutability) appliance uses S3-native object storage with immutability to protect backup data from ransomware and deletion, based on a Zero Trust architecture. The appliance is hardened to prevent access for destructive actions on firmware, OS, or data, and enforces separation between backup software and backup storage servers to maintain multiple resilience zones. Setup requires minimal security expertise, needing only IP configuration, credentials, and MFA setup. Appliances scale from 8 TB to 7 PB through multi-node clustering with automatic load balancing, supporting ingest speeds up to 8.0 GB/s per cluster. The product integrates with Veeam's SOS API and direct-to-object functionality, and is engineered to accelerate Veeam Instant Recovery without requiring reconfiguration of Veeam storage or security settings. Additional included capabilities include Honeypot, a built-in decoy Veeam Backup & Replication server that detects suspicious activity targeting backup infrastructure and sends alerts, and Fleet Manager, a cloud-based monitoring service providing centralized visibility into distributed appliance deployments using telemetry data only. Object First appliances are available in a compact Mini form factor for remote/branch offices and small businesses, and have undergone third-party penetration testing (NCC Group) and compliance testing (Cohasset Associates for FinServ, NIS2 white paper), and are aligned with CISA Secure by Design principles. Purchasing options include Consumption-based (pay-per-use subscription) and CapEx (traditional upfront purchase) models.
