Tempered Networks develops network security technology based on the concept of a "virtual airgap," originally created to protect Boeing's 777 mobile manufacturing platforms. The company's core product, Airwall, is a Zero Trust, software-defined perimeter platform designed to cloak devices, networks, and applications, making them invisible to unauthorized users while enabling secure, authorized access. Tempered Networks was acquired by Johnson Controls in July 2022, a company focused on smart building technology. The acquisition was intended to allow Tempered's technology to continue operating and integrating within Johnson Controls' broader building security and IoT offerings, while continuing to support existing customers.
