Quantum Industries is an Austrian company that develops and manufactures Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) hardware systems for securing telecommunications against current and future quantum computing threats. Their products are based on polarization-entangled photon pairs generated via spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) within periodically poled Lithium Niobate crystals, using a Sagnac-interferometer architecture. The company offers three core products: a Polarization Entangled Photon Pair Source intended for research and development teams, a Long Distance QKD System optimized for distances of approximately 350 km, and a High Speed QKD System designed for inter-city distances of approximately 10 km using superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPDs) to achieve high key rates. Their solutions are designed to integrate into existing communication infrastructure without requiring a complete network overhaul, and are intended for organizations across sectors including government, finance, military, healthcare, telecommunications, and critical infrastructure. The underlying technology addresses the "harvest now, decrypt later" threat vector, where adversaries collect encrypted data today for decryption once quantum computers become operational. The founding team includes world-renowned quantum scientists from the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI) in Vienna, with backgrounds in space-based quantum communication and over 35 years of combined scientific work in the field.
