Virus Bulletin Description

Virus Bulletin (VB) is an independent organization operating in the cybersecurity space across three core functions: research publication, security software testing, and an annual industry conference. The Virus Bulletin publication serves as a technical journal for the security research community. It publishes articles covering malware threats, emerging attack techniques, security landscape developments, and industry commentary. The archive of published content extends back to 1989, making it one of the longer-running cybersecurity publications in the field. On the testing side, VB runs a suite of structured evaluation programs for security software. The VB100 program tests anti-malware products, VBSpam evaluates email security solutions for spam filtering effectiveness, and VBWeb assesses web security products. These tests produce public reports that vendors and consumers can reference when evaluating security tools. In addition to these public testing programs, VB offers private testing and consultancy services for organizations that require tailored evaluation work. The VB Conference is an annual event that has been held for over 35 years. It brings together security researchers, vendors, and practitioners to present research, discuss industry developments, and exchange knowledge. The event covers a broad range of IT security topics. The 2026 conference (VB2026) is scheduled to take place in Seville, Spain, from October 14–16.
