Defense Unicorns UDS (Unified Delivery System) is a secure, portable, airgap-native platform designed for delivering software to military systems. The platform addresses the unique challenges of deploying and updating software on disconnected military infrastructure. UDS Core serves as the foundation, combining open source DevSecOps tools for monitoring, log aggregation, and airgap deployment into a secure runtime platform. The tech stack includes Keycloak for identity and access management, Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring, Loki and Vector for log aggregation, Istio for service mesh, Falco for container security, Velero for backup and restore, Metrics Server for resource metrics, Pepr as a policy engine and operator, and Zarf for airgap deployment and SBOM. Zarf is an open source tool that enables continuous software delivery of cloud-native applications to systems disconnected from the Internet by securely bundling and delivering all required files and dependencies. It provides portable packaging for airgapped areas, consistent deployment across distributed systems, SBOM compliance support, and continuous productivity in connected and disconnected environments. Pepr is an open source Kubernetes middleware tool that helps IT operations teams manage and modify resources in Kubernetes clusters using configuration modules. It enables creation of policy engines, application integration automation, and Kubernetes script automation.
