The Q/PTL (Qualified Penetration Tester License) Workshop is a 40-hour residential training program designed to validate penetration testing skills and professionalism. The course provides face-to-face instructor-led training covering ethical hacking methodologies, network security assessment, and vulnerability analysis. The workshop curriculum includes footprinting and reconnaissance, scanning and enumeration, system hacking, trojans and malware analysis, network sniffing, denial of service attacks, session hijacking, web application security, SQL injection, wireless network security, and cryptography. Students work with various penetration testing tools including Nmap, Nessus, Metasploit, Wireshark, John the Ripper, Burp Suite, and others. The program requires participants to have professional experience and understanding of TCP/IP protocols. Evaluation is based on 95% attendance and 100% completion of lab exercises. Students use dual-core machines running Windows, Linux, and VMware Workstation for hands-on labs. Upon completion, participants receive a professional license that validates adherence to a code of ethics and best practices in penetration testing. The course awards 40 CPE credits and 3 CEU credits. The training prepares professionals for roles such as penetration tester, ethical hacker, red team technician, vulnerability analyst, and security engineer.
