Q/AAP (Qualified Access, Authentication & PKI Professional) is a certification training program offered by Security University that focuses on Public Key Infrastructure, authentication, identity management, and access authorization systems. The course is a 40-hour residential, face-to-face instructor-led class designed to teach participants how to plan, evaluate, develop, and implement enterprise network security frameworks using PKI and related technologies. The training covers cryptography concepts, digital certificates, digital signatures, certification authorities, directory services, and various authentication mechanisms including smart cards, tokens, and biometrics. Students receive hands-on experience installing multiple certification authorities and working with different encryption keys. The curriculum includes practical exercises on PKI product implementation using multiple vendor solutions. The course addresses HSPD-12 compliance requirements for federal identification standards and covers security topics including access control models (MAC, DAC, RBAC), intrusion detection and prevention systems, and security life-cycle management. Students learn to develop Certificate Policy and Certificate Practice Statements for enterprise PKI deployment. The program requires 95% attendance and 100% completion of lab exercises to pass. Prerequisites include understanding of TCP/IP protocols. Upon completion, students earn 40 CPE credits and 3 CEU credits. The course is graded on a pass/fail basis and includes quizzes, labs, and a final exam.
