Red Button Azure DDoS Testing is a managed DDoS attack simulation service designed specifically for environments hosted on Microsoft Azure. As an authorized Azure Partner, Red Button conducts tailored DDoS test simulations that align with the client's specific Azure deployment architecture. The service covers three categories of DDoS attacks: - Application-layer (Layer 7) attacks, targeting harder-to-detect threats - Volumetric attacks, simulating extreme and sustained traffic campaigns - Protocol/network-layer attacks, such as SYN floods and UDP floods Testing is adapted to the specific Azure components in use, including Azure CDN, Azure Application Gateway, and Azure Virtual Machines. Notably, tests can be conducted without prior notification to Microsoft, simplifying scheduling for last-minute engagements. The engagement is structured as a fully managed service requiring approximately five hours of client time: one hour for a pre-test interview, three hours for the test session, and one hour for results reporting. Extended test sessions covering more attack vectors can run up to six hours. Following each test, clients receive a detailed report that identifies security flaws prioritized by severity, along with remediation recommendations covering configuration options and security component additions. An optional re-testing session is available to validate implemented fixes. Red Button also offers separate support for implementing the mitigation recommendations.
