The products archive inbound, outbound, and internal electronic communications — including emails, attachments, instant messages, calendar files, and other electronic files — to a secure, tamper-resistant repository. Archiving can occur in real-time via journal archiving, which captures all messages as they pass through the mail server, ensuring no data is lost. Key administrative capabilities include granular retention policy management configurable at the location, department, or individual user level, as well as customizable archive access controls per user. The administrator can grant specific permissions — such as allowing a manager to search and restore subordinates' archived emails — and receives email alerts when policy violations are attempted. All archiving processes and user search/retrieval activities are logged for auditing purposes. The search and eDiscovery functionality supports full-text keyword and key phrase searches, fuzzy search, and metadata-based filtering (file type, date, sender, recipient, file size). Users can search within results to narrow findings, save searches to "Search Baskets," and access a "Top Ten" list of frequent searches. Authorized users can restore data to its original format, print, or email results from the archive. Storage efficiency features include high compression, stubbing, and single-instance storage. A PST/NSF migration utility is included to centralize desktop archive files. The suite version supports searching directly from the email client or offline.
