MegaCryption IDMS is an encryption toolkit designed specifically for Broadcom IDMS (Integrated Database Management System) data running on IBM Z mainframe environments. It provides cryptographic protection for IDMS data both at rest and in process, operating transparently without requiring changes to existing applications. The product supports encryption at two levels: - Data Mode: encrypts individual data elements (fields or groups of fields) within an IDMS record - Record Mode: encrypts all fields beyond the last control item in a record Both modes can operate independently or concurrently. Supported encryption algorithms include AES-128, AES-256 (FIPS-197 validated), and Triple DES (equivalent 168-bit key). A built-in key management component handles secure key storage and key rotation, with separation of duties enforced between Key Managers and IDMS Administrators. MegaCryption IDMS addresses compliance requirements for regulations including SOX, PCI, HIPAA, FERPA, COPPA, HITECH, EU GDPR, and UK DPA. It also includes a conversion utility for common cryptographic tasks to reduce implementation overhead. The solution is part of the broader MegaCryption product family, which covers encryption across z/OS, Windows, Unix/Linux, and DB2 environments.
