Faronics Data Igloo is a data retention solution designed to work with Deep Freeze endpoint protection software. The tool allows administrators to retain user data on machines protected by Deep Freeze by redirecting specified files, folders, user profiles, or registry keys to a Thawed partition (ThawSpace) while keeping the operating system partition frozen and protected. The product provides enterprise-level control through command line scripts and a graphical interface, enabling centralized management of data redirection across multiple computers. Administrators can select source data and target ThawSpace locations through a point-and-click interface, with future changes automatically redirected to the unprotected partition. Data Igloo operates transparently to end users, who remain unaware of the redirection process. The tool preserves user-created files, documents, settings, favorites, antivirus updates, and entire user profiles across system reboots while maintaining operating system protection on the frozen partition. The solution includes silent install, upgrade, and uninstall functionality. It uses NTFS junction points to redirect data without requiring complex configuration procedures.
