Lockheed Martin Cyber Resiliency Level® Description

Cyber Resiliency Level (CRL) is a framework developed by Lockheed Martin for measuring the cyber resiliency maturity of weapon, mission, and training systems. The framework addresses the challenge of identifying and managing cyber risks in weapon systems that depend on globally-sourced embedded technology, software, and interconnected networks. CRL assists stakeholders in prioritizing risks and selecting courses of action against cyber-attacks. It provides stakeholders with an understanding of cyber investments necessary for increased cyber resilience. The framework employs risk-based and engineering-based approaches. The framework leverages assessment tools including the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Process and Risk Management Framework, Lockheed Martin's threat-driven methodologies, and the Department of Defense's Cyber Table Top (CTT) Guidebook. CRL is designed to help organizations measure cyber resiliency in complex environments that are continuously under attack and experiencing rapid technology changes. The framework can be applied during system development to eliminate costly cyber "bolt-ons" later in the system lifecycle by including cybersecurity at the front-end of development programs.
