JADAPTIVE Push SFTP Description

Push SFTP is an open-source, cross-platform SFTP command-line client for Windows, macOS, and Linux, distributed under the GPL license. It implements all standard SFTP commands and introduces a "push" command designed to improve file transfer throughput on high-latency networks. The push command works by splitting files into multiple segments and uploading them in parallel over separate SSH connections simultaneously. Because the SFTP protocol supports random access, each file segment is written directly to its correct position in the remote file, requiring no server-side processing for reassembly. For file systems that lack true random access or the ability to write to the same file across multiple connections, Push SFTP also includes SFTP extensions to support multi-part uploads. Additionally, the tool supports file hashing SFTP extensions, allowing the server to verify file integrity after transfer when the server supports this capability. Lab tests conducted between a UK office and an Amazon EC2 instance in us-east-1 demonstrated a performance improvement of approximately 2.5x to 3x over the standard OpenSSH SFTP client's "put" command, using the default configuration of three parallel connections. The number of parallel connections is configurable. Push SFTP is built on Maverick Synergy, JADAPTIVE's open-source Java SSH API, and is compatible with most standard SSH/SFTP servers, including OpenSSH. It supports batching, allowing it to replace existing scripts that rely on the standard SFTP command.
