Intermedia Email Encryption is a cloud-based email encryption service that scans and secures outgoing emails across an organization without requiring additional software or plugins. The service uses Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), S/MIME, and X.509 certificates to provide end-to-end encrypted email delivery, ensuring confidentiality, message integrity, and user authentication. Authentication can be configured by policy, sender, or recipient. End-to-end encryption options include: - Self-Registration - Shared Secret Passphrase - Social Media Credentials - Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) The product includes automatic background email scanning to enforce company-wide policies, with optional controls allowing users to determine which messages are encrypted — including attachment-only or both attachments and message body. Pre-built HIPAA templates are included to identify emails containing Protected Health Information (PHI). The service is designed to support compliance with regulations including HIPAA, SOX, GLBA, GDPR, and California's Security Breach Notification Act. Administrators manage policies and encryption keys through Intermedia's HostPilot Control Panel. Full certificate lifecycle management (expiry, rollover, bulk upload) is provided, along with detailed, searchable activity and security reports. The service is accessible via a mobile-optimized experience on iOS and Android. It is available as an add-on to Intermedia's Exchange Email (Email Plus) and Microsoft 365 plans.
