OSm (Operating System for Management) is a security-hardened, Linux-based operating system designed to run on Endace appliances. It provides administration, reporting, and configuration capabilities through both a web-based GUI and a scriptable command-line interface (CLI). **Health & Performance Monitoring** OSm delivers real-time reporting of EndaceProbe health and performance metrics, including CPU load, network, memory, disk status, and capture/recording performance. It supports SNMP (v1, v2c, and v3), customizable alarms, event logging, notifications, and hardware health monitoring. **Security & Access Control** OSm implements full AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) and supports RADIUS, TACACS, and LDAP for remote authentication. Access to management functions and recorded data is governed by user-configurable Role-Based Access Control (RBAC). Shell access is disabled, and management is conducted exclusively through controlled interfaces (CLI, GUI, REST API, SNMP). **Secure by Design** OSm is based on recent Linux releases that have been security hardened. It receives regular updates and security patches. Access to administration functions is restricted to managed interfaces only. **Centralized Management** OSm administration can be managed via EndaceCMS Central Management Server, enabling centralized management of all elements within an EndaceFabric — including EndaceProbes and InvestigationManager instances. **Updates & Support** New OSm releases are distributed through the Endace Support Portal. Customers with an active support contract can download and install updates at no additional charge.
