It operates by creating a "Data Harbor" — a secure storage layer built from existing cloud or on-premises storage providers — and orchestrating the movement of Veeam backup data into it using S3-API compatible object storage. Core to its approach is a patented data fragmentation engine that transforms backup files into what the company calls "Digital Sludge," splitting data across multiple separate storage locations so that compromising any single location does not yield usable data.
