Boxphish Student Cyber Awareness Training is a security awareness training programme designed specifically for primary and secondary school students. It aims to build cyber awareness and digital safety skills among students, recognising that education institutions are frequent targets for cyber criminals and that students — not just staff — need training to recognise and respond to threats. The programme is endorsed in principle by the UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the Department for Education (DfE), both of which recommend training students alongside staff. Training is delivered in bite-sized video modules, with age-appropriate visuals and language tailored to either primary or secondary school levels. Topics covered include: - Creating strong passwords - Safely downloading content - Protecting personal information - Risks of talking to strangers online - Cyberbullying and kindness in digital spaces - Phishing recognition Delivery is flexible: training can be accessed via a secure online platform (suitable for students with a school email address) or via downloadable files that can be uploaded to a school intranet or played directly in a classroom. For older students with school email addresses, simulated phishing exercises are available, allowing students to practise identifying phishing attempts in realistic scenarios. A free downloadable poster pack is also available, covering topics such as password safety, social media awareness, phishing alerts, downloading dangers, and cyberbullying — designed for classroom or corridor display in primary and secondary schools.
