Rampart Communications UBDM Core Description

UBDM (Unitary Braid Division Multiplexing) Core is a patented wireless modulation IP Core developed by Rampart Communications. It is implemented as a block of logic within an SDR (Software Defined Radio), FPGA, or ASIC, and operates at the physical layer of wireless transmissions. Unlike conventional link-layer encryption, UBDM secures the waveform itself — every bit transmitted, including both data and signaling channels — without requiring changes to analog RF hardware or impacting throughput, spectral efficiency, bandwidth, or power consumption. UBDM is designed to prevent passive interception and active exploitation of wireless signals. It is described as meeting the standard of Kerckhoffs' Principle, meaning its security does not rely on obscurity. The technology differs from frequency hopping or spread spectrum approaches in that unintended recipients cannot detect any transmitted bits. The IP Core is compatible with existing physical-layer protocols including DVB-S2, 802.11, 4G/5G, MU-MIMO, and SC-OFDMA, and works with existing MODCODs, equalization, framing, and channel-coding systems. Additional capabilities include anti-jam, anti-geolocation, and PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) reduction features. Target markets include satellite networks, government and military communications, IoT and manufacturing environments, and WiFi/cellular deployments. The product is positioned for use cases requiring Zero Probability of Intercept and low SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) security.
