Datawatch Mobile Access is a mobile-based physical access control solution that enables users to gain entry to secured buildings using their smartphones instead of traditional access cards. The system uses standard communications technologies and is compatible with both iOS and Android operating systems. It supports tap or twist gestures for door entry, including the ability to open doors when approaching from a distance. The solution functions in areas without cellular reception, relying on local communication rather than requiring an active network connection. Identity data is protected using Secure Identity Object® (SIO®) data encoding to maintain privacy and integrity of credentials. Credential management is handled through Datawatch's DirectAccess® (Admin App) portal, which allows administrators to create, distribute, and revoke access credentials. Administrators can customize or modify access permissions on a per-user basis. Beyond door entry, the system can optionally trigger other building systems upon entry — such as lighting, heating, air conditioning, and elevators — depending on client configuration. The technology is compatible with Bluetooth-enabled access control readers.
