Cyberoam CR500iNG-XP is a next-generation firewall appliance designed for enterprise networks. The product is no longer available and has been succeeded by Sophos products. The appliance provides Layer 8 identity-based security that treats user identity as the eighth layer in the network protocol stack, enabling administrators to control network activity and set policies based on usernames. This identity layer binds with Layers 2-7 to provide security controls across the network stack. The firewall includes inline application inspection and control with coverage of over 2000 applications, allowing prioritization based on user identity, time, and bandwidth. It offers website filtering with a URL database containing millions of URLs grouped into 89+ categories. The system includes an Intrusion Prevention System that protects against network and application-level attacks, malware, Trojans, DoS and DDoS attacks. The CR500iNG-XP supports VPN connectivity through both IPSec and SSL protocols. It provides bandwidth management with granular Layer 7 and Layer 8 controls, allowing bandwidth policies to be tied to users, user groups, applications, and website categories. The appliance features FleXi Ports with I/O slots that support additional Copper/Fiber 1G/10G ports. It includes 8 fixed Copper GbE ports and 2 slots for FleXi Ports modules, supporting up to 24 total ports. Hardware specifications include firewall throughput up to 18 Gbps UDP and 16 Gbps TCP, support for 2.5 million concurrent sessions, and 100,000 new sessions per second. Additional security features available through subscriptions include Web Application Firewall, Gateway Anti-Virus, and Gateway Anti-Spam. The system provides on-appliance reporting with over 1200 reports for real-time visibility into user and network activities.
