cPacket Packet Broker (cVu) Description

cPacket Packet Broker (cVu) is a network packet broker and monitoring observability node designed to aggregate, filter, and distribute network traffic to downstream security and performance analysis tools. The product is offered in two hardware lines: - Advanced Packet Broker (cVu-NG): Uses a distributed architecture with dedicated ASICs and FPGAs behind every port, enabling smart packet processing at line-rate up to 100Gbps. - TapAgg Packet Broker (cVu-AG): A tap aggregation solution supporting up to 400Gbps with full packet accountability. Packet Broker aggregates traffic from multiple optical TAPs, SPAN ports, and Remote SPAN ports within data centers, then delivers the appropriate packets to downstream tools such as packet capture, NDR, XDR, and NPM solutions. By offloading pre-processing to the packet broker, downstream security tool capacity is increased by up to 30%. The product also supports virtual deployments for hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Virtual instances are deployed as agentless, native cloud VMs, overcoming limitations of native Cloud Service Provider (CSP) traffic mirroring — such as packet drops during congestion, limited machine type support, and single-copy packet mirroring restrictions. Virtual deployments support replication of packets to multiple downstream destinations. Provisioning, management, and visualization are handled through the cPacket Control Center platform or via each node's own user interface. The product is used in financial services, healthcare, and high-performance computing environments for use cases including latency analysis, TCP analysis, multi-hop service troubleshooting, security forensics for incident response, and compliance.
