NC Protect for Nutanix Files is a data-centric security solution developed by archTIS (via its Nucleus Cyber product line) that provides data discovery, classification, and protection for content stored in Nutanix Files environments. The solution scans and inspects files for sensitive or regulated data based on pre-defined or custom policies, automatically classifies content using secure metadata, and applies information protection controls accordingly. It supports hundreds of pre-built policy checkpoints covering US and international privacy regulations including HIPAA, FISMA, PCI DSS, GLBA, COPPA, and various Privacy Acts. Access control is enforced at the individual file (item) level rather than relying on folder hierarchies. Access rules are driven by dynamic comparison of file classification metadata against user context attributes such as location, device, and security clearance. This allows restrictions to be applied to specific users or groups even when a broader audience has access to the containing site or library. Encryption is applied both at rest and in motion, ensuring that only credentialed users can read protected content regardless of administrator privileges. This applies to documents stored within Nutanix Files and to any files that leave the file system. The solution also includes controls to prevent unauthorized sharing, printing, saving, or copying of Microsoft Office document content outside of Nutanix Files. It provides a secure viewer, access tracking, and reporting capabilities for transparency and accountability. NC Protect is certified as Nutanix Ready – AHV and requires no additional client-side application installation.
