ZORB DataShield

ZORB DataShield is an application data protection tool designed to prevent data exfiltration from desktop applications during security incidents. It addresses a gap that traditional DLP, EDR, and EPP tools leave unaddressed: outbound data flows from applications such as word processors, spreadsheets, CRM systems, HR platforms, and finance applications. How it works: - By default, ZORB applies a deny-all policy to all outbound data flows from applications on monitored devices. - Each outbound transmission is validated in real time against a 3-point verification check before being permitted. The three verification checks are: - Trusted Source: Confirms the application is known, trusted, and authorized. - Destination Validation: Verifies that data is being sent to legitimate vendor infrastructure, independently of DNS resolution. - Transmission Security: Confirms that the communication method is appropriate and secure. A key technical differentiator is that ZORB validates destination IP addresses directly against known vendor infrastructure, bypassing DNS trust. This means that if DNS poisoning has redirected an application to an attacker-controlled IP address, the transmission is blocked — a scenario that DLP, EDR, and EPP tools do not protect against. ZORB is positioned as a complementary layer to existing security stacks rather than a replacement. It does not replace DLP, EDR, or EPP but adds application-layer outbound data flow control. A Proof-of-Value assessment is offered, covering 10 devices over 10 days, which maps all application data flows and identifies where regulated data is being transmitted — including whether destinations are legitimate vendor infrastructure.
