Alibaba Cloud Anti-DDoS is a cloud-based DDoS protection service that uses a global network of scrubbing centers to detect and mitigate distributed denial-of-service attacks. The service is built on Alibaba's AI-enabled detection and protection systems, leveraging big data and machine learning to automatically identify and respond to sophisticated attack patterns. It offers over 20 Tbit/s of total mitigation capacity across globally distributed scrubbing centers and mitigates approximately 2,500 DDoS attacks daily. The product is offered in two main options: Anti-DDoS Proxy, which diverts traffic via DNS resolution to scrubbing centers and provides IP masking for origin servers; and Anti-DDoS Origin, which provides protection without requiring changes to the original server IP address, using a cloud-native approach. Key capabilities include protection at network (Layer 3), transport (Layer 4), and application (Layer 7) layers, near-source attack mitigation using Anycast and GSLB technology, game-specific dynamic watermark protection, VOIP SIP protocol protection, IPv6 support, BGP-based mitigation for data centers, and 7x24 security expert support. The service targets use cases including online education, video streaming, data centers, and enterprise environments, and supports protection for both China domestic and cross-border traffic scenarios.
