SecuGen ID-SERIAL Description

The SecuGen ID-SERIAL is a standalone fingerprint authentication device designed for integration into serial-interface applications such as point-of-sale (POS) systems, time and attendance tracking, and access control. The device is built around SecuGen's SDA04P™ optical fingerprint sensor module, which includes an on-board processor, RS-232 serial interface via an RJ-22 modular jack, and an external power supply. The serial interface supports communication speeds up to 460,800 BPS. Core capabilities include fingerprint enrollment, template creation, on-board 1:1 and 1:N matching, and internal storage for up to 10,000 users (20,000 templates). The 1:N search is powered by SecuGen's SecuSearch™ identification algorithm. Templates can alternatively be transmitted to a central server or database for external storage and matching. The optical sensor features Auto-On™ automatic finger detection and Smart Capture™ technology for scanning difficult fingers (dry, wet, or scarred) under challenging conditions including direct sunlight. The sensor is rated resistant to scratches, impact, vibration, and electrostatic shock. Templates can be generated in either SecuGen's proprietary format or the ANSI-INCITS 378-2004 standard format. The device is surface-mountable with integrated screw mounts and an integrated finger guide, and supports access from any finger in any orientation. Dimensions: 140 mm x 88 mm x 67 mm. Weight: 190 g. Includes an RJ-22 to DB9 female cable (6 ft.) and a 3.3V DC power adapter. A separate Developer's Kit is available to facilitate application integration.
