SafeConsole USB Certified Data Erasure is a feature within the DataLocker SafeConsole platform that provides cryptographic data sanitization for SafeConsoleReady encrypted USB drives. Rather than using destructive overwrite cycles, it destroys encryption keys to render data permanently unrecoverable, aligning with NIST 800-88 data sanitization guidelines. Erasure can be initiated manually (on-demand) by administrators or triggered automatically through lifecycle policies. Each erasure action generates a tamper-proof proof-of-erasure certificate with digital signatures, unique identifiers, and cryptographic hashing, creating an immutable audit trail suitable for regulatory reporting. The tool is built directly into the SafeConsole management console, covering the full USB device lifecycle: provisioning and enrollment, active monitoring and policy enforcement, certified erasure, and decommissioning or redeployment.
