The SecuGen ID-USB SC/PIV is a combination USB fingerprint reader and smart card reader designed for FIPS 201-compliant, PIV, and dual-factor authentication applications. It is classified as a legacy product. The device integrates SecuGen's SDU04P™ optical fingerprint sensor module with a PC/SC-compliant smart card reader in a single USB-powered unit. The fingerprint sensor is FBI-certified and compliant with PIV, FIPS 201, and Mobile ID FAP 10 standards, meeting FBI Next Generation Identification (NGI) Image Quality Specifications (IQS). The smart card reader supports ISO 7816 and EMV2 2000 Level 1 standards, accepting ID-1 full-size smart cards at 5V, 3V, and 1.8V, covering ISO 7816 Class A, AB, and C. It is 100% compatible with the HID Omnikey 3121 smart card reader. The optical fingerprint sensor is designed to handle difficult fingerprints (dry, wet, or scarred) and resists scratches, impact, vibration, and electrostatic shock. It features latent print rejection, an integrated finger guide, and is 100% compatible with the Hamster IV (HSDU04P) fingerprint reader. When used with applications built on SecuGen SDKs, the device supports Auto-On™ (automatic finger detection), Smart Capture™ (self-adjusting scanning), Device Recognition™ (device authentication), and fingerprint template encryption using SecuGen's proprietary template format. The device connects via USB 1.1 Full-Speed and USB 2.0 Hi-Speed, is bus-powered, plug-and-play, hot-swappable, and features a surface-mountable case with integrated screw mounts. Supported operating systems include Windows 7/8/8.1/10 and Windows Server 2008 R2/2012. Certifications include FCC, CE, KCC, RoHS, and FBI PIV.
