The Hamster Pro 30 (Model HU30) is a USB fingerprint reader designed for fingerprint enrollment, authentication, identification, and verification. It is FBI Certified as meeting FIPS 201 (PIV) and Mobile ID FAP 30 requirements, and complies with INCITS 378, ISO/IEC 19794-2, and ISO/IEC 19794-4 biometric standards. The device uses a U30 contact optical sensor with a 500 DPI image resolution, capturing images at 400x500 pixels. It features a glass platen measuring 22.4mm x 28.0mm and supports 256 gray scale levels (8-bit). Scan speed ranges from 0.2 to 0.5 seconds. Key hardware capabilities include resistance to scratches, impact, vibration, and electrostatic shock, as well as water and dust resistance. The device connects via USB and is designed to handle difficult fingerprints from dry, wet, or scarred fingers. Software-dependent features (available when used with SecuGen SDKs) include Auto-On automatic finger detection, Smart Capture self-adjusting scanning, and Device Recognition device authentication. The reader also supports fingerprint template encryption (using SecuGen proprietary template format) and rejects latent prints left on the sensor. The Hamster Pro 30 is compatible with Windows Hello for password-free login. SecuGen provides free SDKs supporting this device for Windows, Linux, and Android development. The SDKs include tools for fingerprint registration, matching, and related biometric functions.
