PortalGuard Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) is a password management solution from BIO-key International that enables users to reset, recover, and manage their passwords without requiring IT help desk intervention. The solution supports password reset and recovery across browser-based access and Windows/Mac desktops via the PortalGuard Desktop agent. Users can perform actions while both online and offline, and access SSPR directly from the Windows login screen (including via Ctrl+Alt+Del) or from the Mac desktop. Key self-service actions supported include: - Password reset, new password creation, and password change - Password recovery and offline password recovery - Account unlock - End user registration - Forgotten username lookup Identity verification during resets is handled through multi-factor authentication, including biometric methods, and configurable challenge/answer security questions. User data can be batch imported to pre-populate enrollment information. The centralized architecture stores cryptographically hashed challenge answers and OTP token information on a central server, eliminating per-machine enrollment. Password policies such as complexity, expiration, and quality requirements are managed centrally. The solution includes identity federation and SSO capabilities, allowing a single password to be used across multiple applications. Active Directory (including Azure AD) and SAML-enabled application password management are supported. Administration is handled through an auditing dashboard providing real-time reports on self-service usage, login activity, account lockouts, and Web SSO activity. A help desk console and verbal authentication feature are also included to assist users who contact support directly.
