They are also relevant for compliance with frameworks such as CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) at Level 2 and higher, particularly for organizations handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Core use cases include: - Digital document signing: Replaces wet ink signatures with legally binding digital signatures, creating an audit trail for each signing action. - Digital sealing: Enables professionals such as engineers, architects, and surveyors to apply secure digital seals to plans, permits, and official documents. - Email security: Provides digital signing and encryption for email communications to verify sender identity and protect message integrity. - Government portal access: Supports authenticated access to online government websites and applications. Certificates are delivered either as a secure software download or on FIPS 140-2 compliant hardware tokens, depending on the certificate type. Hardware tokens offer enhanced private key protection for high-assurance use cases.
