AirID2 is a mobile smart card reader designed in credit card (ID-1) format that combines a card reader with a badge holder. It enables wireless use of smart card-based digital identities across multiple devices and operating systems without requiring a physical cable connection. The device supports both contact-based and contactless smart cards and connects to host devices via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or USB. The Bluetooth connection is secured with 256-bit encryption. The device retains the NFC functionality of the inserted smart card. AirID2 is compatible with Windows, macOS, Linux, Apple iOS, and Android. It operates offline without requiring an internet connection, making it usable in environments with no connectivity (e.g., aircraft, low-signal areas). The device stores digital identities including cryptographic keys, PIN/PUK codes, certificates, and access permissions on an EAL5+-certified smart card. These credentials remain physically separate from the host device and are cryptographically protected against unauthorized access.
