Self-Protecting Data Platform vs Sharelock: Side-by-Side Comparison (2026)

Short answer

Mid-market and enterprise security teams protecting SQL and NoSQL databases against insider threats and advanced persistent compromise will get the most from Self-Protecting Data Platform, which embeds fragmentation and dynamic encryption directly within data rather than relying on perimeter controls. The platform's zero-trust execution environment and Flee Mode autonomous relocation directly address NIST PR.IR (infrastructure resilience), and the HoneyBot deployment provides the continuous monitoring and incident analysis coverage that most database security tools skip. Skip this if your priority is compliance-checkbox coverage or if you need real-time query performance at scale; the fragmentation overhead and geo-distributed shard architecture require substantial infrastructure redesign. Mid-market and enterprise teams drowning in identity sprawl will find Sharelock's value in its ability to automatically revoke overprivileged access without requiring weeks of manual access reviews. The platform's autonomous remediation agents close privilege and MFA gaps in real time across siloed identity systems, which addresses the PR.AA and DE.CM gaps most organizations never properly close. Skip this if you need deep integration with your existing PAM stack or expect a vendor with a larger support footprint; Sharelock's 12-person team means you're betting on a focused product, not hand-holding through deployment.
