CIS Penumbra Router is a hardened network device hosted on the GL.iNet GL-S1300 chassis with Qualcomm WiFi SON technology. The router is configured with a proprietary operating system based on OpenWRT 1505 that does not communicate with third-party providers for updates, services, or DNS redirectors. The router implements the CIS Encrypted Network (CISEN), which provides dual encryption with dynamic and randomized network routing. Traffic is encrypted using Post-Quantum Cryptography (ML-KEM NIST Security Level 5) over a proprietary WireGuard-based protocol with a patent-pending algorithm. The routing architecture connects to the local ISP through the WAN port, dual encrypts traffic with PQC, obfuscates the local ISP IP address, and sends traffic to a command-and-control server. The C2 server randomizes traffic via a different VPN protocol to a transit (exit) server, resulting in the router advertising the IP address of the randomized transit server over the LAN port. The device features a Qualcomm IPQ4029 quad-core ARM CPU at 717MHz, 512MB DDR3L memory, 16MB NOR flash plus 8GB EMMC storage, and supports IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless protocols with transmission rates up to 400Mbps on 2.4GHz and 867Mbps on 5GHz. It includes 1 WAN port, 2 LAN ports, and 1 USB 3.0 port with support for FAT32/NTFS/EXT4/EXT3/EXT2 external drive formats.
