Unbound

Unbound provides a governance layer for AI coding agents, enabling organizations to monitor and control how these tools operate within their environments. The platform works by substituting OpenAI-compatible API keys on AI coding agents, providing visibility into usage patterns, tool actions, and potential security risks.

The company's discovery capabilities identify over 20 AI coding tools, MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, agents, sub-agents, and agent rules deployed across an organization through scripts orchestrated by MDM systems like Jumpcloud, Jamf, and Microsoft Intune.

Unbound monitors risky terminal command executions and MCP actions, tracking activities such as database modifications, system folder deletions, cloud resource provisioning, and production environment changes.

The platform provides organization-wide visibility into AI coding tool usage, identifying power users and usage patterns across teams and departments. It tracks which files are most frequently modified by AI agents and offers insights at user, team, and department levels. Unbound includes automatic error handling that routes requests to alternative models during rate limit errors or provider downtimes, maintaining developer productivity.

Security features include enforcement of sanctioned AI coding tools, governance of MCP servers, automated secret detection and redaction, and the ability to configure organization, team, and project-level sub-agents.

The platform integrates with various AI coding tools including Claude Code, Cline, Roo Code, and others. Unbound offers two pricing tiers: a Discover Plan for visibility features and a Protect Plan with advanced governance and enforcement capabilities.
