IdenTrust Description
IdenTrust is a Certificate Authority (CA) that issues digital certificates used for identity verification, authentication, encryption, and digital signing across government, healthcare, financial, and enterprise sectors. The company offers a range of digital certificate types, including Secure Email (S/MIME), TLS/SSL website security, document signing, code signing, device security (IoT), and digital signing and sealing certificates. IdenTrust is an approved Federal Bridge Certification Authority, meaning its certificates are cross-certified under the U.S. Federal Bridge Certification Authority (FBCA) and interoperable with specified government programs, including the DEA Electronic Prescriptions for Controlled Substances (EPCS) program and various state and local government agency programs. IdenTrust is one of a limited number of approved External Certification Authority (ECA) vendors for the U.S. Department of Defense, having received its Approval to Operate (ATO) in November 2007. ECA certificates are issued to individuals affiliated with organizations that interact with DoD systems and support identity verification when accessing DoD information systems, digital signing, and email encryption. The company serves a broad range of industries and communities, including banking and finance, healthcare, government (federal, state, and local), enterprise and corporate, manufacturing, licensed engineers and surveyors, and individual professionals. Certificate storage options include software-based storage on a computer or hardware tokens such as smart cards and USB devices. IdenTrust also supports international applicants for DoD ECA certificates, with specific procedures for U.S. citizens abroad and citizens of allied nations including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
