Surfshark

Surfshark is a cybersecurity company that develops consumer-focused security products centered around privacy and online protection. The company's core offering is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) service that launched in 2018, which has since expanded into a comprehensive security suite called Surfshark One.

The product portfolio includes Surfshark VPN with WireGuard protocol support and a 100% RAM-only server infrastructure, Surfshark Antivirus (AV-TEST certified), Surfshark Alert (monitoring service), Surfshark Search (private search tool), and Incogni (a data removal service that removes personal information from data brokers). The company also developed Nexus, a proprietary technology for its VPN infrastructure.

Surfshark operates a research center that publishes studies on internet censorship, cyberattacks, and privacy breaches, including the annual Digital Quality of Life index and the Internet Shutdown Tracker. The company has undergone independent security audits by Cure53 and privacy assessments by Deloitte, and is an accredited member of the VPN Trust Initiative.

In 2022, Surfshark merged with Nord Security, achieving a $1.6 billion valuation. The company employs over 500 people and has accumulated more than 40 million app downloads. Surfshark supports various non-profit organizations focused on internet freedom and operates an Emergency VPN program providing free VPN access to journalists, NGO representatives, and activists facing internet censorship.
